Definitely agree that photographers shouldn't get their hopes up for out-of-this world sales. I've set up my own domain and shopping cart system to do a case study myself. Long story short, selling your work in person is much more rewarding to every degree.

I've also started using Fotomoto on my photoblog. I really like its seamless integration with my photoblog.

Another neat feature of Fotomoto not mentioned in this article is that the seller can set limited editions for prints (which is automatically tracked by Fotomoto).

This is a great idea. However, the idea of selling prints without the artist's approval seems to go against an absolute necessity in the art world.

If I were to find a photograph that I liked I would then do some research on Etsy, Artmo | Art Market Online, Ebay or some other place so that I knew what I was buying was coming from the hands - and approval - of the photographers themselves.

I just had a look at Chromasia.com and had a thought about security of fotomoto.

The fotomoto window pops up once I pressed "purchase this print", but there is no indication that the transaction is over https or that there is any other type of security. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but it should be obvious.

I don't think I would want to put any of my client's details at risk until I can see and be sure that security is in place.
